Lloyds Bank Foundation for the Channel Islands appoints Tom Holvey as new trustee

4 November 2024

Lloyds Bank Foundation for the Channel Islands is pleased to welcome Tom Holvey to the charity’s Board of Trustees. Tom has served as Chief Economic Advisor to the Government of Jersey since early 2022 and brings with him previous experience as both a Trustee and Non-Executive Director.

Tom has previously worked as a Senior Civil Servant in the UK focusing on issues such as Brexit and Covid19 for the Department of Health and Social Care and as the inaugural Head Economist for Digital in the Cabinet Office. His last role was as the Chief Impact Officer and Chief Economist for the UK Infrastructure Bank, establishing an investment framework ensuring the bank’s investments maximise policy impacts for economic growth and net zero.

Tom has held similar positions to his Jersey role, both for the Saint Helena Government and Leeds City Council, focusing on economics, social impacts, and economic growth. He also enjoyed a second career as a locally elected politician in York for eight years.

“I’ve admired the work of Lloyds Bank Foundation for a while, and when looking for a Trustee position where I could add value, this felt like a natural fit,” Tom said. “I love that as a Trustee for LBFCI I can support lots of charities, bringing with me my knowledge and experience of assessing impacts and macro-economics.

“I hope I can contribute to the ongoing excellent work of the islands’ charities through LBFCI.”

Speaking on Tom’s appointment, LBFCI Chair, Philippa Stahelin, commented, “We are thrilled to be joined by Tom, who brings with him a new perspective on the charity sector in the Channel Islands. His experience working with government and knowledge of the wider economy will be hugely beneficial in helping us to support Channel Islands charities.”

LBFCI funds, supports and champions charities in the Channel Island that make a positive difference to the lives of people who are socially excluded and disadvantaged, enabling them to play a fuller role in the community. In 39 years, the Foundation has given more than £24million to charities in the Channel Islands. Alongside funding for charities in Jersey, Guernsey and Alderney, LBFCI provides developmental support including mentoring to help charities to improve their resilience and sustainability.
